Referral Program Terms
Last updated: October 7, 2026
These terms govern the Bookwik referral program (“the Program”). They form part of and are incorporated into our Terms of Service. By sharing a referral link or accepting referral earnings, you agree to these terms. The Program rewards you for introducing businesses to Bookwik — it is a marketing program, not an investment, employment, or agency arrangement, and nothing on the Platform offers returns on money deposited.
1. Who can participate
Anyone may register as a referrer with a valid name and email address. You do not need a Bookwik business account — most partners (influencers, agencies, freelancers) do not have one. Register at bookwik.app/referral/join, and we send a one-time link to that address: opening it signs you in and confirms the address. There is no password. One referrer account per person. You may not refer your own business, a business you own or control, or use the Program to earn from bookings you make yourself (“self-referrals” are void).
2. What triggers an earning: a qualifying referral
A referral earns nothing until it qualifies, and a referred business qualifies only when all three of these are true: it has registered on the Platform with your referral code, it has completed verification (KYC approval), and it has taken at least one booking. A booking that is later cancelled, or a checkout the customer never paid for, is not a booking taken.
The two later conditions are checked in whichever order they happen: a business that is verified and then takes its first booking qualifies at the booking, and one that takes a booking before its verification is reviewed qualifies at approval. Nobody earns anything for sign-ups, links clicked, or businesses that never complete verification, and never for depositing or “investing” money into the Platform. Your earnings do not depend on what a referred business sells or how much it charges — only that a booking was taken.
3. Earning amount
The Program pays a flat fee of ₦3,000 for each qualifying referred business (registered, verified and having taken a booking, as set out in section 2). It is not a percentage of our fees and not a share of anything a referred business earns — a business that never verifies, or that verifies but never takes a booking, counts for nothing, no matter how much its customers spend.
- One business, one fee: the fee is earned per business and repeats without limit. One qualifying business earns ₦3,000, three earn ₦9,000, ten earn ₦30,000.
- Credit: the fee is credited to your referral wallet automatically the moment a referred business meets the last of the three conditions, whichever of them that turns out to be. There is nothing to claim or chase, and nothing to wait for: your first introduction pays on its own.
- No ongoing royalty: once a business has been paid for, no further earnings arise from it however much it goes on to sell.
4. Single-level program
The Program is strictly single-level: you earn only on the businesses you directly referred. You do not earn from other referrers’ referrals, from recruiting other referrers, or from any chain of introductions. Bookwik does not operate, and will never operate, a multi-level or network structure.
5. Payouts: threshold, schedule, and tax
- Minimum payout: ₦3,000 — the value of one qualifying referral. You can request a withdrawal whenever your wallet balance is at least ₦3,000.
- Schedule: withdrawals are initiated on request via your verified bank account and typically settle within 2 business days.
- Withholding tax (WHT): referral earnings are commission-type income. Bookwik withholds tax at source before payout — currently 5% for individuals and 10% for companies, per Nigerian WHT rates — and remits it to the relevant tax authority. The gross amount, tax withheld, and net amount are shown on every withdrawal record. You remain responsible for declaring your income.
- Verification: payouts go only to a verified bank account. For wallet balances above ₦50,000, the account must be in your own name (matching your registered name) before funds release.
6. Withholding, reversal, and fraud
Bookwik may withhold, delay, reverse, or cancel earnings that we reasonably believe result from fraud or abuse, including: self-referrals or referrals you control; businesses that never genuinely operate or trade; collusive, fabricated, or artificially generated accounts; multiple referrer accounts; circumvention of the single-level structure; or any violation of our Terms. Reversed rewards are debited from your wallet, and if the balance is insufficient the deficit may be recovered from future earnings or pursued as a debt. We may also pause payouts to an account while we investigate.
7. Expiry of unclaimed earnings
Wallet balances that receive no new earnings for 12 consecutive months (the “dormancy period”) expire and are removed from the wallet, unless the terms of your specific agreement with us say otherwise. If your account is suspended or terminated for fraud or abuse, unclaimed balances are forfeited. Balances below the ₦3,000 payout minimum remain available indefinitely as long as your account stays active, and expire only through dormancy as described above.
8. Changes to the Program
The Program is a promotional activity that Bookwik may modify, suspend, or end at any time — including changing rates, thresholds, or these terms — with at least 14 days’ notice by email or on the Platform where practicable. Ending the Program does not cancel earnings already validly credited to your wallet: you can still withdraw them under the terms in force when they were earned. Where a change is required by law, regulation, or payment-processor rules, it may take effect immediately.
9. Your data
Your participation is handled under our Privacy Policy (NDPA 2023). You can see how many businesses you referred and your earnings from each — we show you only the aggregate and business-level data you need, not customers’ personal information. Bank details you provide are used solely to pay your earnings and are verified through our payment processor.
10. Contact
Questions about the Program or a specific reversal or expiry decision: contact support.
